Do I need to submit some kind of report when I become a beneficiary of the long-term care insurance system?
No. Health Insurance Society is aware when an insured person reaches 40 years of age and becomes a beneficiary of the long-term care insurance system. However, you must submit a report through your employer when any of the conditions of exclusion stated below applies or ceases to apply.
Conditions for exclusion from insurance application
- Persons with no permanent domicile in Japan
- Foreign nationals permitted to stay in Japan for han three months or scheduled to leave Japan within three months
- Persons staying in facilities to which the long-term care insurance system is not applicable, including those for treating the physically handicapped
